Elka Suspension sponsored rider Joel Hetrick started the weekend with one goal in mind, to close the points gap in the championship with the current leader Chad Wienen. His goal was to win both Moto 1 and Moto 2 to gain the maximum points possible, and the weekend went on just as planned!
In Moto 1, Hetrick qualified 1st and claimed the holeshot, leading all race to his first win of the weekend. He also got the holeshot in Moto 2 but lost the lead at mid race. He was able to regain first position before the end and took home the win in Moto 2 along with the overall win and the important points for the championship!
He now sits 2nd overall for the championship, only 1 point behind first position. He’ll be looking to take the championship lead on July 15-16 at the Unadilla ATVMX National in New Berlin, NY.
