Lake Havasu WORCS Round 9 Race Report

Atascadero, CA (12/6/2020) – CST’s Beau Baron’s second-place finish in the season finale WORCS Pro ATV race handed him his record eighth Pro ATV Championship title. It marked Baron’s third 2020 WORCS championship, after having won the both SXS Pro Stock title and the 30+ Vet A Motorcycle crown at the previous round.

The event was held on a combined off-road, big jump, motocross track setup in the large expanse of sand around Lake Havasu in Arizona. Havasu is known to be one of the toughest rounds in the series and this year’s event lived up to the hype. Thankfully for Baron his Honda shod with CST tires and Elka shocks was perfect in every way.

“My bike has been so solid this year,” said Baron. “I’d like to thank Sparks for the awesome motor; Kenny over at Tireblocks and CST tires. A huge thanks to Roll Design for the Elka suspension. This year was pretty awesome thanks to all those that help me do this.”

In the race, Baron relied on his experience which told him to be conservative. He lost a title due to a chain mishap here three years ago, and Baron used his veteran wisdom to put in another podium finish. In all, Baron scored three wins this season, and three runner-up finishes.

“I was trying to be smart today because I know that anything can happen at this track,” said Baron. “Then again, I really don’t think I would have had much for Sloan today even if I had ridden harder. He was on it today.”

Baron also clinched the 30+ A Motorcycle Championship here with his seventh win of the season. The feat was made even sweeter by the fact that he earned the title after missing the first round.

“The dirt bike race was rad,” said Baron. “I ended up with a win to finish out my championship in the class.”

Having just turned 40, the question looms, though, if Baron will return to Pro ATV next year. It’s just over a month before the season opener at Primm, and Baron said nothing is set in stone…yet.

“If I can put together a good program, I’ll ride next year,” said Baron. “If not, I’ll run the SXS and the dirt bike for fun. I love riding my quad and it would be hard for me not to run some rounds. We’ll see how it turns out.”

Baron is slated to return to WORCS when the ATV and SXS classes hit the track in Primm, NV January 15-17.
