Atascadero, CA (1/17/2022) – CST’s Beau Baron kicked off the 2022 WORCS Racing season with a victory in the Pro ATV class. The season opener was held at Buffalo Bill’s Resort in Primm, NV. Baron also raced in the SXS Pro Production event, but a mechanical issue took him out of contention on the first lap.

With a growing class of competitive ATV riders this year, Baron did what he does best. The defending Pro ATV champion took the lead at the start, and never looked back. After a quick start, and an impressive run in the off-road section, Baron took a slow and steady approach in the pro rock garden section. Though that allowed the pack to catch up, that plan paid off with no damage to his quad.

“I just turned 41 so I’m just ecstatic that I can still be doing what I started so many years ago,” said Baron. “I felt like I was the fastest in the off-road, but when I got to the rock section, I was concerned I might break a chain or bend a rotor so I tip-toed through there and that allowed the pack to gain a bunch of time back on me. It worked out, though.”

Several new and up-and-coming competitors are going to do their best this year to try to unseat Baron and stop his attempt at a 10th ATV title. Baron is not intimidated, and he will be prepared.

“The competition is stiff this year and it’s going to get stiffer,” explained Baron. “Travis Damon is in shape and he’s just ripping. Roberto Villalovos is fast, too. They have their acts together this year.”

All of Baron’s core sponsors are back this year. One sponsor in particular may have saved his weekend: The TireBlocks in his CST tires worked perfectly on the rough and rocky desert course.

“I hit a rock in practice and blew the tire completely off of the bead and I didn’t even know because of the TireBlocks,” said Baron. “The DWT wheel held up extremely well. CST, Elka, and Sparks are also back this year. I have a great group of sponsors and I am thankful that they have all chosen to stick behind me again this year.”

Baron chose to scale back his SXS program this year and is running just the premiere SXS Pro Production class. Though he had difficulties in this class here, he’s looking at the long game and he will certainly be in contention for the title later in the season.

“Running just the one SXS class has made for a much more mellow weekend at the race track,” said Baron. “Everyone is going to have problems this year, so I’ll make this one back up before it’s all over.”
Baron will return to action when WORCS heads to Glen Helen Raceway in Devore, CA on February 11-13th.
