Joel Hetrick started his perfect day by claiming his third consecutive ATVRiders.com Fastest Qualifier Award, which was only the beginning for Hetrick.

With near perfect racing conditions, Hetrick got off to a second place start in moto one behind John Natalie jr. Hetrick was battling hard with Natalie Jr early in the first lap and made an aggressive pass for the lead. “John went outside and I went inside. I got into him a little bit, and I saw him come back on the track,” – said Hetrick.

Soon after the pass, Natalie, Jr. crashed after coming back onto the track. “I didn’t know he wrecked and I really didn’t want it to go down like that. Some people were saying it was him coming back on the track, and then he wrecked, and it wasn’t my fault. That’s a relief, and I am glad he is going to be okay,” – said Hetrick.

Once out front, Hetrick began to pull away, leaving a six second gap between him and second place as he took his third moto win of the season. “It felt good to take another moto win. I felt good out there and my quad was running awesome,” – said Hetrick.

For moto two, Hetrick was on top of his game as he grabbed the holeshot. Hetrick had plenty of pressure from Chad Wienen and the pair battled furiously with Wienen taking over the lead for a few laps before Hetrick made a pass stick on the white flag lap. Hetrick held off a counter attack and claimed the moto two win for his first overall of the season. “My Maxxis Tires hooked up great and got me the holeshot. Chad was pressuring me and got around me, but I just had to put my head down and get this one. I put in solid consistent laps and kept my head cool and ran a good race,” – said Hetrick.

Hetrick’s victory has brought him within striking distance of the points lead, with only a four point deficit. “I’m going to be working hard. I want to win a championship, so I need to get a few more wins,” – he stated.

Round four of the 2015 Mt. Dew AMA ATV Motocross Championships will head to High Point Raceway in Mount Morris, PA on May 16-17, where Joel Hetrick is going for his home state win.
