XC1 Pro Turbo UTV Report • Round 12 • Powerline Park
St Clairsville, OH (10/13/18) Polaris RZR Factory Racing/Yokley Racing driver, John Barnes returned from the GNCC break to put the Polaris RZR XP Turbo on the podium. Barnes commented, “This achievement means so much. We started the year having to learn a new car. To put the Polaris RZR on the podium shows how capable of an offroad machine it is. I wouldn’t want to be on anything else.”
This event means an incredible amount to the Barnes team as GNCC has announced this is the last UTV season for the GNCC. Barnes added, “I’ll take all the stings from relearning our race program this year with a smile for this single day.”
The team would start the day strong with a fast start from row 3. By the end of the first lap, they had caught row 2. Barnes added, “I knew we were running up front. My mechanic, Jeffrey Woodard held up our placement as we completed each lap. My co-Pilot, John Cripps was navigating so well and pushing me to run harder.” The team stayed in the top 5 till the final lap.
On the final lap, the team had fell back to 7th.Co-Pilot, Johnnie Cripps commented, “We knew with the end of the GNCC season on the line, we had nothing to lose to make a final push to get on the podium. We put the hammer down, and let it all hang out to go from 7th to 3rd at the end.”
The team has had an incredible journey this year. They have achieved several podiums in other series, but nothing can come close to the achievement of a podium at a national.
