Two weeks after the 2012 Baja 1000 Peninsula run, Pirruñas Racing was scheduled to race the BITD Henderson 250. After winning the Silverstate 300 and the Longest offroad race in America “Vegas to Reno” all we had to do was start and finish the Henderson 250 to clinch the 2012 BITD Quad Expert Championship. Last year’s Henderson 250 was extremely cold and treacherous. For this year’s race, we raced our Liberty Motorsports, Elka Suspension Honda TRX 700xx. The race consisted of 3 laps around a 48 mile course full loamy whoops, sand washes, and rocky sections.

Since we are in the Quad Expert class our class was last off the line. The race started with two quads in 30 second intervals. We were first off the line with the XX Army team from Phoenix, Arizona starting next to us. Consequently, the other team got the holeshot, but by the second turn we were hot on their tail. We battled for the first couple of miles side by side through the rocky whoops. But my Elka Shocks were working flawless and were able to pull away. After getting on the road section, the XX Army team blew right by us. But we stuck by him and were able to get the outside line on a turn and blew by him while eating their roost. After that we never looked back. At mile 20, co-rider Travis Dillon was scheduled to ride the entire lap back to the alternate pit and put more time on the 2nd place team but came in with a front right flat tire. We quickly changed it out and Alonzo Dominguez was out to finish the 2nd lap.

Alonzo came into the alternate pit on the 3rd lap with a huge lead. Travis got on for his last ride of the day to take the Elka Suspension Trx700xx across the finish line. After waiting at the finish line for a couple of minutes #431 finally saw the checkered flag with a 1st place finish and the 2012 BITD Quad Expert championship. “The Trx700xx ran great today and the course was a lot of fun. Our Elka Suspension made the whoops feel like a highway, they never missed a beat.” said Alonzo Dominguez. “It was a perfect end to our season and the team worked very hard all year to win this championship” said Juan Dominguez, who had to sit this race out due to some work issues.

Pirruñas Racing would like to thank Travis Dillon for riding his heart out and helping win the 2012 BITD Quad Expert Championship. We would also like to thank our sponsors Elka Suspension, Liberty Motorsports, Double Lucky, Yuma Mortuary, Polar Cooling, Piston Auto Recycler, ATV Galaxy, Iron Scroll of Yuma, and Baja Racing Supply for helping us win the 2012 Quad Expert championship and giving the best reward of them all #LIVINGTHEDREAM… see you guys in 2013!
